Grade 4 to 9: How do I apply for accommodations and/or exemptions?
An assessment accommodation or concession is a change made to an assessment or assessment venue/regulations for learners with learning barriers or disabilities to ensure that these do not unfairly affect a learner’s academic performance. Applying for assessment accommodations and/or concessions helps learners who experience learning barriers to be optimally supported without compromising the standard and credibility of their work.
Account holders or legal guardians can apply for academic accommodations and/or exemptions by completing the application form and annexure available on the
Optimi Learning Portal under
Resources > General Documents > academic year > Accommodations and Exemptions > Grade 4 to 9.
The average processing time for an application is between six (6) and eight (8) weeks. No late applications will be processed - please refer to the relevant deadlines as stipulated on the application form. It is the responsibility of each parent/guardian to ensure that all the required documents as stipulated on the application form are submitted. Impaq cannot take responsibility for incomplete or outstanding documentation.
All application documents, along with proof of payment, must be sent via email to info@impaq.co.za (in the email subject line, please use ‘Accommodation’ and the student number, e.g., ‘Accommodation - 12345’).
NB: Should a learner be granted a reader or scribe, a certificate of the qualified reader or scribe that intends to assist the learner during tests and/or examinations will be requested. The reader/scribe may not be a teacher, facilitator, or tutor of the learner, nor the head of a tutor centre or independent school. This rule applies to all assessments for which the approved accommodation is used.
